Hi, I'm Robyn.

I started Straightforwardly English to help students develop a love and appreciation for literature while helping them achieve their full potential at GCSE.  

​

I want students to see their texts not only as exam hurdles, but as a means of understanding people and the world around them.  

​

As I see it, by looking closely at characters and situations we develop empathy for situations outside of our experience.  Not only this, but by looking carefully at the language being used we develop a better understanding of how people communicate - as well as how to communicate better ourselves.

As I'm sure you would expect from a tutor, I have the experience and the knowledge to help students to get the grades they're aiming for.  I've spent over a decade teaching in the classroom as well as marking for exam boards.  I've got the first class and masters degrees to back up my academics, but it's through a conversation with me that you'll work out whether I'm someone that fits your needs for a tutor.

My courses provide the clarity of explanation students need to understand the texts they're faced with and my tutorials challenge students to think for themselves, join up dots and deepen their understanding.
